Why my Lord are You so far away?
When we’re in trouble why do You hide?
The poor are oppressed by the wicked,
Catch them in their own traps and cast them aside.
The wicked are proud of their evil deeds,
They don’t care about You my Lord.
And the greedy reject You completely,
By them You are always ignored.
The wicked succeed at everything,
Even though Your Judgement they don’t understand.
They say in their hearts “they’ll never fail”,
And they curse and swear and lie on command.
They hide, and seek out a victim,
A victim to murder or mame.
They hide like a lion, and set their trap,
And they feel no remorse or shame.
After they take their victim by force,
They leave them crushed in defeat.
And they say “God cannot see me!
Our eyes will never meet.”
Punish the wicked and help those in need,
For You, the wicked have no respect.
But You always help the needy and poor,
Those in distress You don’t ever neglect.
